Google prepara el rebranding de Android TV a Google TV en la app Google Home

El rebranding o cambio de nombre es algo habitual cuando hablamos de Google. Lo hemos vivido ya a pequeña escala con Duplex, Google Keep y su cambio a Keep Notes, el “feed de Google” que pasó a llamarse “Discover” e incluso a una mayor escala con el cambio de Android Wear a Wear OS. Ahora parece que la historia se repite, con Google TV como sucesor de Android TV.

Lo cierto es que el cambio de nombre no es del todo sorprendente. En realidad ya se había filtrado, no obstante, lo que ahora es relevante es que Google ha comenzado ya dicho cambio, modificando las cadenas de texto de su aplicación Google Home. Estos cambios estarían relacionados con la llegada cercana de Sabrina, el nuevo gadget de Google para conectar a nuestro televisor.

Por el momento, todas las referencias a Google TV se centran en políticas de privacidad y servicio, así como en ayudas sobre el funcionamiento y emparejamiento de las cuentas con el televisor.

Dicho nombre guardaría relación con otra filtración reciente, donde se daba a conocer el supuesto nombre de Sabrina, “Google Chromecast with Google TV”, un nuevo nombre muy descriptivo a la vez que repetitivo pero que tendría sentido si Google quisiera impulsar esta nueva marca.

A pesar de la gran cantidad de información filtrada que existe de los dispositivos que Google tiene pendientes, no se espera que su presentación sea hasta el próximo día 30 de septiembre, momento en el que Google presentará su Google Pixel junto con, en teoría, el resto de gadgets para el hogar pendientes. Que Google Home vaya preparando ya las traducciones necesarias de la interfaz con los cambios de Google TV puede ser una muestra de que esto esta ya más cerca.
